CARNIVAL IN CHALABRE

(May 2006)

Last year, Carnival had been a rather dismal affair because of the weather; this year, the Powers-That-Be of Chalabre hit upon a cunning plan: move the date to May, so that they could enjoy better weather. It worked.

The "King of the Carnival" (Baladuc) is paraded in the streets.

The parade sets out.

More parade.

The parade gets organized.

The parade march by our house (across the Cours).

More carnavaliers.

The straddlers.

A carnavalier.

The fierce beasr of the Pyrénées.

Another straddler.

The farmers' float.

Everyone's a critic: Mrs and Mrs Gimenez & Mr Martinez watch the parade.
