In 2005 Carnival had been a rather dismal affair because of the weather; in 2006, the Powers-That-Be of Chalabre hit upon a cunning plan: move the date to May, so that they could enjoy better weather. It worked. The "King of the Carnival" (Baladuc) is paraded in the streets. The parade sets out. It marches by our house (across the Cours). See the fierce bear of the Pyrénées!
