THE TOUR DE FRANCE
IN CHALABRE
(July 2008)
The 12th leg of the 2008 Tour de France,
held on July 17, going from Lavelanet to Narbonne, went though La Roque d'Olmes, Chalabre, Puivert, Quillan, etc.
Before the Tour...
The "new" church of Chalabre seen from the old railroad track
|
The village of Chalabre seen from the old railroad track, with the castle looming over
the bastide
|
The direction of Lavelanet (south, towards the Pyrénées)
|
Not everyone is a fan of the Tour
|
And now, on to the Tour itself...
The advertising caravan comes first, giving away free samples, yelling slogans into microphones and playing loud
music...
Then the Tour itself... The peloton which zooms by at over 30 mph...
